I am a seasoned developer advocate, trainer, blogger, and data engineer with multi-decade career Timeline currently focused on data pipelines & data lake analytics using Trino, Iceberg, Hive, Spark, Flink, Kafka, NiFi, NoSQL databases, and, of course, classical RDBMSs. I have used SQL in all stages of my career.
I consider myself a polyglot programmer, but I’m most productive using Java, Scala, and Python. I’m comfortable in a variety of Dataframe APIs, including Spark, PyStarburst, Ibis, and pandas. I’m also a firm believer that big data api’s look a lot alike.
